چکیده

The aim of the study was to explain whether or not the time of ovarian cyst (OC) formation had an influence on reproductive performance in dairy cows. Eighty cows with OC (group A first OC diagnosis < 42 d postpartum; group B first OC diagnosis > 42 d postpartum) were compared with 80 control cows without OC matching in lactation number and calving date. Milk yield was higher in OC cows compared with control animals (P<0.05). With respect to reproductive measures, group A did not differ from the control group. Reproductive performance of group B was lower than in the control and A groups. Treatment of OC did not have any effect on fertility measures. Additionally, ovarian cysts were diagnosed more often in cows with than without endometritis (P<0.05). In conclusion, ovarian cysts diagnosed after the puerperium had a negative effect on fertility, whereas OC diagnosed during the puerperium did not affect reproduction.

Metabolic profiles of high-yielding dairy cows with ovarian cysts formation

Background: Ovarian cysts are among the diseases which cause reproductive failure and economic losses in dairy herds. High yelding dairy cattles are suseptable to reproductive failure caused by ovarian cysts, as a result of their exposure to stressful coditions during lactation. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to monitor metabolic profile tests in dairy cows with ovarian cysts in comparison with c...

The Effect of Administering Equine Chorionic Gonadotropins (eCG) on Reproductive Performance of Dairy Cows with a CO-Synch + CIDR Protocol and Insemination at a Fixed Time

The success of a fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) program depends on a high ovulation rate during a short interval. Equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) has been used in FTAI protocols to improve follicular growth and thereby to produce larger, more responsive follicles for ovulation with increased pregnancy rates. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of eCG on concept...

Effect of Administration of an Opioid Antagonist (Naloxane) to Treat Ovarian Cysts in Dairy Cows

The role of stress in the pathogenesis of ovarian cysts is believed to be mediated by the discharge of endogenous cortisol, which inhibits LH release. Endogenous opioid peptides are involved in many responses to stress. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of epidural administration of Naloxone (NX) on cystic regression and follicle development leading to normal oestrus ...

A comparison of adrenal gland function in lactating dairy cows with or without ovarian follicular cysts.

Two experiments were conducted to determine if adrenal secretion of steroids differed between cows that formed ovarian follicular cysts and normal cycling cows. In experiment 1, lactating Jersey and Holstein cows were diagnosed as having ovarian follicular cysts (follicle diameter >or=20 mm) by rectal palpation. Following diagnosis, ovaries were examined by transrectal ultrasonography three tim...

Delayed Ovarian Cyclicity Does not Reflect Blood Metabolites Irregularity in Postpartum Holstein Cows

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different types of ovarian cycles on reproductive indices and blood metabolites in 61 Holstein cows. Blood samples were taken from each cow between day 12 and day 50 postpartum (PP). Serum progesterone concentrations were measured to determine the onset of luteal function and different types of luteal dysfunctions in cows. Serum glucose, ...
